Nickelodeon Changes

Today I visited Nick, and there's some differences at the studio since the last time I tromped through. ...

Over the holidays, sparkly new floors were installed in the central hallway, the entrance lobby, and the back door. (I like it. The new high-quality floor replaces black-and-white chessboard style flooring that was starting to bubble.) Cubicles, office walls and hallways are repainted. The color scheme is now white with a few color highlights hither and yon. (Nice clean look.)

Mark Taylor, the Nickelodeon studio topkick for a long stretch of years, retired at the end of 2011 and his office currently stands empty. (I was told that no replacement for Mark has come into the studio yet.)

The Robot and Monster crew was told yesterday, ten months after 26 episodes were greenlit for production, that their show was ending. (The artists are down, naturally, but keeping stiff upper lips: "You heard? We're kind of in mourning." ... "This isn't the first time a show has ended, right? We'll find other work ...")

I padded around to a lot of R and M's staff and offered condolences. I was able to give a teensy bit of good news: Because most of them have been at the studio eighteen months or more, they'll have health coverage for twelve to fifteen months after they exit.

R&M is the best little show that no one's ever heard of or seen.

Nickelodeon is doing everything right if they want to lose every bit of heart and innovation they ever had.

Nick's always had trouble with quality control. Look at the latter years of Fairly Odd Parents and Spongebob if you need examples.

How can they cancel a show before it's even aired? What if it gets great ratings?

Is Nick working on anything else new? I mean, I'm really excited for Korra, but that, Dreamworks cartoons, and more Spongebob can't be all they're doing. Where are the new big original series?

This comment is completely off topic, but does anybody (and I mean ANYBODY) know when Ne Yo's animated "I Heart Tuesdays" is going to begin production, or when/if the show will air on Cartoon Network or Nick?

Maybe, we should start calling Nickelodeon and tell them to rethink their decision about Robot and Monster and get the show on the air. It has been since March 2011 that those 26 episodes were put in production. Tell them endlessly to show a sneak peek of Robot and Monster after the Kids Choice Awards, and it will help as a solution to their current ratings debacle. Contact Nickelodeon Viewer Services at (212) 258-7579 and their address is 1633 Broadway, New York, New York 10019. Give them phone calls and emails and tell them we want a Robot and Monster premiere and show less reruns of SpongeBob all day. Even if its on all the time, we deserve to watch at least one new episode a month. And keep The Fairly OddParents, T.U.F.F. Puppy, The Penguins of Madagascar and Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness and bring back Fanboy and Chum Chum and Planet Sheen.

@massimiliano lucania - The person giving the tests had no idea that the show was going to be cancelled.

Correction of the above statement: Season one was put into production in 2010. A second season was picked up just last September.

So... I'm curious, will the 26 episodes already greenlight be finished (assuming they aren't already) and aired or will the whole series be scrapped?

I'm guessing they will air them at some point in the future. Maybe after anything else with Monster in the title has finished it's run. But unless they are swayed by public outcry(Unlikely, since the public barely knows there is a show called Robot & Monster) you will not see them finish out the ordered 26
